PERRY SIGNS ON!

LEICESTER have made a significant signing for the future with the acquisition of talented youngster Max Perry as a club asset.

Perry, who turned 16 last weekend, enjoyed a hugely successful first season with the Lion Cubs in the National Development League in 2022, helping them to a league and KO Cup double.

He is back with the Lion Cubs this year and is now eligible to race at senior level, and the club wish to see the progression system already in place with the Thompson twins continue into the future.

The move is particularly significant in terms of forward planning given the Rising Star scheme which operates in the Premiership, where every team has to track an up-and-coming British rider at reserve.

Co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: “We’re very pleased to get Max signed up. He joined the Cubs last season and has progressed very well, and it’s great news for the club as a whole.

“Max is one of the best youngsters at his age that I’ve seen in a good while, and there was interest from other clubs, but this is the benefit of having a Cubs team in the National League.

“We’ve looked after him properly, put the work in and given him track time, and Max and his family are happy here.

“I’m sure he’s got a big career in the sport ahead of him, and we’re delighted he’s pledged his future to the club.”
