PLYMOUTH V LIONS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER are back on the road this week as their busy schedule continues with a trip to Plymouth on Tuesday.

The Watling JCB Lions still have a 100 per cent home record but await their first point from away matches after last Friday’s defeat at Scunthorpe.

They won at the Coliseum last season but it promises to be a tricky encounter in Devon, with the Gladiators having shown plenty of ambition in their team building.

Former Lions star Hans Andersen was one of their big winter signings, along with fellow Dane Michael Palm Toft and the experienced Ben Barker, and they have further strengthened on Tuesday with the booking of in-form Richard Lawson to guest at No.1.

The Lions track their usual septet at the start of a week which also takes them to Redcar on Friday before another big showdown at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena against Glasgow on Saturday.

And their lower order also has a job to do to contain the threat of talented reserve Dan Gilkes, who piled up 16 points in the Gladiators’ recent KO Cup home loss to Poole.

Lions skipper Kyle Howarth said: “We’ve got three big matches coming up, and they’re must-wins. We want points on the board.

“If we can get points away that would be massive, and we just need to chip away and keep doing what we’re doing.”

PLYMOUTH: Richard Lawson, Alfie Bowtell, Ben Barker, Michael Palm Toft, Hans Andersen, Henry Atkins, Dan Gilkes.
LEICESTER: Nick Morris, Connor Mountain, Kyle Howarth, Dan Thompson, Richie Worrall, Anders Rowe, Joe Thompson.
