WORRALL WANTS GRAND FINAL SPOT

REFRESHED Richie Worrall is keen to make up for what he missed out on in his previous spell with Leicester.

Worrall, back from holiday, has made the winter switch from Edinburgh to return to Beaumont Park and be reunited with his favourite boss Stewart Dickson.

And he’s hoping to get the chance to appear in the Grand Final with the Watling JCB Lions – something he missed out on in 2019 due to injury.

“It was great for Leicester to win the league but it still frustrates me when I look back and recall how I missed the final,” he said.

“My season was cut short and it was frustrating not to be able to help in the final, so that’s something I want to put right this year, I want to win the title with Leicester.

“I want the Leicester fans to see the best of Richie Worrall this year.”

Worrall says Dickson and the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena track were the main reasons why he took up the offer of a return to the club.

“I love riding for Stewart he’s a great guy and a good motivator as a manager,” he said.

“And the Leicester track suits me and I know it’s improving regularly with all the work they do there.”

Bikes were back on the Leicester track at the weekend with former Grand Prix and World Cup racer Niels-Kristian Iversen giving the track his seal of approval.

Max Perry from the Lion Cubs along with Watling JCB Lions star Connor Mountain and a host of riders from up and down the were in attendance.

Riders from both teams – the Lions and the Lion Cubs – will be on track for practice from around 5pm on Friday March 25, with all supporters welcome. The team will face the cameras from about 3.30 at their press and practice.

The opening night is the following day when Leicester face Birmingham in a Knockout Cup clash (7pm).
