MOUNTAIN MAKES LEICESTER RETURN

LEICESTER have recalled 2019 title winner Connor Mountain as their first confirmed signing for next season.

Mountain, a club asset, spent this year on loan to Newcastle but boss Stewart Dickson has wasted no time in bringing him back to the Beaumont Park club.

And even though the 2021 season has only just finished, Mountain himself can’t wait to be back in Watling JCB Colours at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be back with the club and can’t wait for the new season to start.

“I was gutted when I wasn’t part of the team plans this season after having such a strong season in 2019 when we won the league but that’s speedway.

“I have kept in touch with Stewart and when he approached me to sign again I jumped at the chance.

“It’s a track I really enjoy riding. It’s always well prepared and the fans are just brilliant and always turn up in numbers on a Saturday night.

“I enjoyed my time at Newcastle this season and felt as though I became a better rider by riding in both the top two leagues.

“Let’s hope we can regain the league title next season as I know how keen the club are to bring success to the area.

Stewart is a great team manager who always gets the best out of his riders.”

The club have informed Hans Andersen, Zaine Kennedy and Ryan Douglas that they are not part of next year’s plans.

Douglas and the club both feel a change of home track will be good for him and he is also signed up for Polish League racing.
