LIONS 54 KING'S LYNN 38

Monday July 24, 2017
LEICESTER secured their biggest win of the season with a 54-38 victory over a patched up King's Lynn side at Beaumont Park.

It was a first win since June 10 for the Watling JCB Lions and just their third of the Premiership campaign.

Jim Lynch's side were determined to get off to a good start and did just that when they opened up a 14-point lead after just four races.

That put them well and truly in the driving seat and they restricted the visitors to just two heat advantages all night as they eased to a much needed triumph.

Team boss Lynch said: "To finally get another win feels great and everyone at the club deserves this tonight.

"It doesn't matter to me about what the state of King's Lynn's team was - we can only beat what's in front of us.

"We still had to go out there and get the job done and I was delighted with the way all six of our riders rode.

"We didn't have one single weak link and the team spirit was excellent once again.

"Even Chris Harris as a guest eased into the environment we've got here and I'm so happy to be able to get that win for everyone involved.

"As well as for the riders and for the staff, nights like these are without question for the fans.

"They keep turning out in big numbers week in week out and they're being treated to some fantastic speedway racing of late.

"We're really pleased with how everything has gone tonight and hopefully we can use this result and performance to take us into the rest of the season."

Danish star Lasse Bjerre bagged double figures for a third consecutive meeting as he wrapped up three race wins on his way to top scoring for the Lions.

He was supported superbly by Danny King, Erik Riss and Josh Bates who all took the chequered flag on two occasions each.

Guest No.1 Chris Harris earned paid double figures for his efforts while Kyle Newman had a steady night at reserve.

A reminder that this Friday's scheduled challenge fixture against Coventry has been cancelled; the Watling JCB Lions next face three meetings in four days next week.

They travel to Rye House a week on Wednesday (August 2) before making the trip to Swindon 24-hours later (Thursday, August 3) with the next home meeting on Saturday, August 5 when King's Lynn are the visitors once again.
