BRITISH young gun James Sarjeant is targeting silverware after becoming the sixth member of Leicester’s 2018 side.

The 24-year-old is back at Beaumont Park after a stint with the Watling JCB Lions back in 2013 and is determined to make an impact.

After a frustrating 2017 campaign which saw him left without any team place at the start of the season, Sarjeant is looking to bounce back in 2018.

He has already signed with Glasgow in the SGB Championship and has now been handed a top flight berth by the Lions, who have just one place left to fill in their side.

And he believes his much busier schedule will allow him to kick-on and take the next step in his career.

“I can’t wait to start next year,” Sarjeant said. “I missed out on top flight racing last year, so I’m happy to have a chance and I’m looking forward to getting back into it.

“I’m keen to get back to full-time racing, I want to be on my bike every day if I can as that’s only going to help my progression.

“It looks like I’ll be busy and Leicester is a club I’ve ridden for before, quite a long time ago not long after they first re-opened.

“I know they’ve got a lot of good fans and some great people there, so I’m happy to be back.

“I definitely want to try and get some silverware with them. They’ve put a good side together, so hopefully things go well for us when the season starts.”
